| Warm, sunny days fill the months of summer a very popular vacation season for those who enjoy balmy temps, fishing, boating, swimming, water skiing, golfing, wildlife watching or simply relaxing while watching the world go by.
Of course, fishing ranks as the number one summertime activity which is no surprise to visitors who make our area their annual vacation destination.
Undoubtedly, Rainy Lake is a world-class fishery throughout the year. Walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, sauger and crappie are the five most popular summertime species.

Boating is a relaxing way to get away from it all. Whether you travel by houseboat, motorized fishing boat, canoe or kayak, you will find hundreds of secluded bays and corners to call your own. Pine-studded islands dot the water landscape and there are many designated picnic sites to stop at for a shorelunch, or simply a day of swimming and basking in the sun.
Summertime park activities are many including boat tours, walking trails, naturalist-guided activities and programs. The Rainy Lake Visitor Center serves as the parks northern gateway interpretive center, and is well worth the visit.

| A vacation would not be complete without dining at one of several resorts or inns that offer waterfront dining. Antique shops are on many visitors must do activities lists and our area has several of them. We also have our fair share of specialty shops, two art galleries, several ice cream parlors, pubs and cafes. Golfing enthusiasts will enjoy golfing on our 18-hole, championship golf course, (designed by Joel Goldstrand), located along the Rainy River.
The Ranier summer festival is a seasonal highlight and there are many other summertime activities that occur each year. We invite you to pore over our Event Calendar to learn more.
