Camping in Voyageurs National Park is a classic Northwoods adventure. The 46 campsites around Rainy Lake are boat-in only, offering shoreline and island settings with tent pads, picnic tables, fire rings, and vault toilets. Reaching your site by canoe, kayak, motorboat or water taxi is all part of the experience and you are surrounded by forest, open water, incredible sunsets and dark skies. 🚤🏕️🌲
Permits and reservations are required for all campsites in the park, and they tend to fill up quickly during the summer season, so plan and book early. Campsites are available through the park’s official reservation system, and fees apply.
The park does not rent watercrafts of any kind on the large lakes. If you do not have a watercraft, there are local businesses that offer water taxi service and a variety of boat rentals, from canoes and kayaks to fishing boats and pontoons.
There are over 100 additional campsites throughout Voyageurs National Park, located on Kabetogama, Namakan, Sand Point, and Crane lakes.
