Located along the Rainy River in Koochiching County, the Lessard-Anderson Wildlife Management Area protects 276 acres of northern Minnesota habitat and 1.6 miles of Rainy River shoreline. The property is open for public recreation and is managed by the Minnesota DNR, providing habitat for sharp-tailed grouse, ruffed grouse, white-tailed deer and other wildlife.
The WMA honors two longtime International Falls conservation leaders, Bob Lessard and the late Bob Anderson, whose work helped shape conservation efforts throughout Minnesota. Lessard was instrumental in establishing Minnesota’s Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment, while Anderson served in the Minnesota Legislature and later chaired the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council.
Located approximately 35 miles east of International Falls, the area offers another opportunity to experience the forests, wildlife and scenic Rainy River landscape of northern Minnesota.
